Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel in Cupertino

RemodelWest recently completed a home improvement project in Cupertino. The project consisted of a full kitchen and two bathroom remodels. When searching for a company for a remodel, homeowners must first decide how they want to plan and design the project. At Remodel West, we see your project from the beginning to the end. Our comprehensive approach to remodeling is what encouraged this Cupertino family to hire RemodelWest for their design and construction project.

Early during the design process a possible burden was brought to our attention. There was a beam running through the middle of the kitchen that really limited the flexibility of design. While assessing the existing conditions of the property

RemodelWest Introduces Before and After Gallery to Online Portfolio

Along with RemodelWest’s brand new website (www.remodelwest.com), we would like to introduce the Before and After Gallery to our Portfolio.

When homeowners are shopping around for a remodeling company, a portfolio of their finished projects is one of the most important qualifying tools. RemodelWest has been building both their online and print portfolios since 1992. We have found that seeing images of the area prior to the commencement of construction helps set the stage for the breathtaking finished project photos. The transformation from “before” to “after” is what enables homeowners to realize that their dreams can become a reality.

Let us WOW you with our Before and…

RemodelWest launches exciting new website www.RemodelWest.com

After many months of planning and design the RemodelWest new website went live today.  As a leader in the Bay Area remodeling marketplace owner Bill Reid has created a site that encompasses all the effort his company takes to create wonderful projects for his clients.  Social media, reviews and fresh knowledgebase content clearly was the objective surrounded by a clear and crisp design has poised this 19 year old award winning company for continued success. With the advent and prominence of social media RemodelWest has taken the courageous step of launching a new website integrating all the key channels to stay in touch with their customers and to reach out to new ones as well.  RemodelWest has always been on the…

Leather flooring invites you into the new RemodelWest studio.

As of May 2009 our new studio is open.  It’s been a great experience and rewarding as we have applied sustainable choices within our own environment.  Of course we are not 100% complete with a few things to finish up but it has really come together nice.  Leather Flooring by Torlys is a feature material in the front of our new space.  More prominent in Europe leather flooring is making a name in the US.  As I understand it during WWII the Germans developed a process to use post industrial waste from leather factories.  This process spurred from a leather shortage for boots and has been used ever since.  This 100% recyled  flooring material has a great feel as you stand on it and is applied exactly like a laminate…

Reclaimed Redwood, Antenna Tower, and Natural Tung Oil pull it off in Remodel West new studio.

Today we are about three weeks from completion.  The studio project has been an interesting project as I balance costs, time, and adhering to green building practices as much as possible.  Our subcontractors and suppliers have been overwhelmingly cooperative and it has been refreshing dealing with them on this very creative project.  Reclaimed Clear Heart Redwood Put to use in new studio!  Cost ZERO (with some sweat equity). Somewhat of a pet project for me, reclaiming and using approximately 500 lineal feet of clear heart redwood from one of our projects has been very rewarding.  I haven’t researched what this material might cost if you could even find it but I would estimate $10-12 a foot.  The cost…

Studio Project: FSC Lumber Material for the framing.

Framing has begun in the new studio this week and it is quickly taking shape.  In keeping with as green a project as possible I decided to use lumber that was harvested from sustainable forests.  FSC certification for lumber is how one can insure that the material being used is genuine.  For those who may not be familiar with FSC it stands for Forestry Stewardship Council.  This is a worldwide organization that provides a vehicle to certify forests and suppliers.  FSC is recognized as the authority in this area and insures that forests are managed in ways that protects our environment while insuring a supply of materials for the future.  As we progress down this road using sustainable materials is just one of many steps to…

Green Point by Bill Reid owner Remodel West – Paint

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Paint

By Bill Reid, President

Did you know that the paint you use in your home is toxic?  Indoor Air Quality is a primary element of green building and what type of paint you use can help.  That “new paint smell” is a sign of a high level of VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) in the paint.  Inhaling these chemicals such as Formaldehyde can cause numerous respiratory and health issues.  TODAY there is a SOLUTION but be aware.

The term “LOW VOC” is beginning to be used in many products but it can be

The West Coast Green Conference: In review

September 23, 2007

Over the last weekend a group of us attended the conference in San Francisco California.  Being in the residential design and construction space we each had individual as well as mutual goals.  I think we can all agree that the publicity in Green Building has been overwhelming.  My primary goal in attending the conference was to dive in and really see what is up with this “Green thing”.  After attending a few days and coming home to ponder what we experienced it’s safe to say that we as a planet are on the cusp of something special.  Although there are many different specific outcomes, thoughts, and ideas out of attending there appears to be a handful that really stood out for me. An un-expected force In attending
