Los Altos Custom Home Remodel

Remodel West completed this Los Altos home remodel in 2012. This project consisted of a full remodel of the kitchen, laundry room and bathroom with an addition to the living room and an indoor/outdoor living area.

Cabinetry

The kitchen was designed to serve the needs of a busy family with the expectation of some entertaining in their future. The overall design inolves two different cabinet finishes provided by Crystal Cabinets. The perimeter of the kitchen is a slab door style with a custom finish, while the outside of the island, floating shelves and ceiling design is a slab door style with a standard darker finish. The cabinetry facing the living room matches the entertainment center designed for the family room. Countertop

This project used a total of three different materials for the countertop. The main workspace in the kitchen is a Caeserstone product. This is used for both the perimeter and island in the kitchen, including the extension of the island intended as a bar style eating area. The second material is another quartz product from Chroma. This is used as the raised island countertop and for the entertainment center in the family room. The third material is found in the laundry room and bathroom and is a limestone. Flooring/Tile

There are a couple items to feature in this category. The first is the flooring installed throughout most of the remodeled space. Remodel West has noticed a growing trend with cork flooring. Cork is a natural product and considered to be one of the most comfortable flooring options. In the kitchen we installed a back-painted glass backsplash tile; one of the very last decisions during the design process! In the bathroom a limestone field tile was installed with a decorative mosaic. For the indoor/outdoor fireplace a textured ceramic tile was designed to border the interior fireplace and a glass mosaic on the exterior to complement the pool tile.

Bill Reid

Founder and Owner of Remodel West, a residential design and construction firm, originally established as Cupertino Kitchen Design in 1992. I have created a very progressive company with a high level of quality standards. Over the years, the company has built revenues to 8.5 Million and scaled operations as we rolled with the times. By re-branding the business in 2007 to Remodel West, we aimed to better align our name with the scope of work performed. I am a Certified Graduate Remodeler through NAHB and Certified Green Building Professional through Build It Green and most recently Certified Renovator through the EPA which is now a federal requirement. My primary goals are to design and build more eco-friendly projects, to do projects for those clients seeking high quality. My professional background stems from twenty-six years of hands on experience beginning in 1985 in cabinetry design and sales, and progressed to my involvement with a startup company from 1987-1991. In 1992, at age 26, I started Cupertino Kitchen Design/RemodelWest. My strengths are creating a vision for our company, planning, and empowering our employees to accomplish our goals. Sue and I have been married 26 years with three wonderful children, Jessica, Michael and Adam and of course our dog Ellbee. We live in Los Gatos and enjoy visiting our home in Lake Almanor, fishing, brewing beer, reading and relaxing.
