Silver Creek family up the quality of their kitchen and entertainment.
Setting at the base of the Silicon Valley foothills is a community called Silver Creek many of the homes were built in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s and represent a contemporary track style home. Clearly leaps and bounds from the original track boom of the 1960’s and 1970’s but one fact remains, builders just don’t invest in quality design and materials. This home was no exception and the owners set their sights on remodeling this kitchen to bring the quality from a 5 to a 10.
Here are the goals that were quickly outlined by our client and the team at RemodelWest went to work.
As you can see this “vanilla” kitchen was just that boring, no character and in desperate need to re-design and stylize the materials to better fit the architecture of the home and personal desires of our client.
The layout of the kitchen actually worked since the home was relatively new so we didn’t need to spend much effort in relocating appliances. Instead we re-designed the kitchen to be more efficient in terms of storage.
The Family Room area with a little used fireplace off center fireplace offered opportunities to achieve the couple’s goal of creating a centered and balanced entertainment center.
This new kitchen features Crystal Cabinets in a Rustic solid Cherry Wood with a special burnished finish and distressed elements only found in furniture grade cabinetry, a far cry from the original builder cabinetry depicted in the before picture. Custom carved elements can be seen to the left and right of the kitchen arched valance, supporting the peninsula counter top and framing the island. Dueling Sub-Zero
Before
refrigerator/freezer offer this busy family of five just enough room for Mom to keep up with the three hungry boys.
Custom hammered copper kitchen hood and complimenting sink bring in an old world and rustic charm to this kitchen accomplishing contrast and texture to the burnished wood finish.
Successful transitions and details are always a testament to quality design. The granite counters have been designed with a triple laminated ogee edge detail which is not commonly seen. How this detail transitions into the bumped out sink and around the island carvings demonstrates how our craftsman achieves the designs that the RemodelWest design staff conceptualize.
At RemodelWest our projects rarely involve just a kitchen or bath and in fact are typically large scale remodels involving many rooms of the home. In this Silver Creek project the owners desired to create a cohesive space both aesthetically and practical hoping to achieve entertainment options that the whole family can enjoy. First up was to remove the old un-used fireplace, incomplete and poorly designed built in cabinetry and re-create a well-balanced multipurpose entertainment solution. Clients that have very specific goals make a remodel project all that much smoother and this was the case. Dueling screen options allow theater style viewing and awesome video game graphics for the boys and a wall mounted flat screen works well for daily TV watching. Recessing the drop down screen into the ceiling really pulled it off and coupled with a custom built soffit across the room to build in the projector hit it home. Designing with Crystal Cabinets allows our designer the freedom to create
and there was no shortage in this area with custom arched door, carved corbels with fluted pilasters and practical storage for the kid’s toys. To the left of the wall mounted screen are the audio video components tucked away behind the doors and built in ventilation cares for the equipment.
This project was unique for the Remodel West design and construction crews. It’s not as common to remodel such a relatively new home but enjoyable to see how we were able to dramatically improve the overall quality of the home. When you walk into these newly created spaces it feels like it should have been that way from the beginning and harmonizes with the architecture and furnishings of the home.Visit this project at our online portfolio to see more
